It’s great to listen to an artist get creative, especially when they’re poking fun at the commercial noise that blares through my speakers every time I misplace my iPod and I’m forced to turn on the radio. This is exactly what Y’All Know creator and Booth favorite Yonas does on his latest single, Stupid Brilliance. The Bronx emcee goes all in on the record, giving confidence a new name as he knocks out one liner after one liner - “I’m so Kobe I haven’t met a proper iso yet / so you can guard up if you got it” - with a smooth flow and even more clever lyrics. The man behind the scenes (Sean Divine) puts a hefty beat down that moves Brilliance along with a quick but steady pace, complete with just the right amount of catchiness. But of course, the best part of the song is that it has the widespread appeal to ironically earn some heavy radio spins (take that Waka). If you like this intelligently dumb flow, be sure to check out his latest project, Seven, which will serve as a prelude to his highly anticipated The Proven Theory album, due out in early 2011.
