DJ Amplive and emcee extraordinaire Zumbi of Zion I have garnered a notable level of respect in both the underground and mainstream, and as the rest of the world gets hotter than hell, the duo brings a little bit of West Coast cool on this new remix of Gotsta Chill. The futuristic cutting of EPMD’s You Gotsta Chill gets a dose of California love and a pinch of Brooklyn as Talib Kweli has words with the game’s teenage drama queens. In a refreshing change from today’s oft-irritating “dare to be diffferent” producers, this remix, off of The Search & The Seizure mixtape, makes use of live instrumentation. Kweli seems comfortable with his ability to ride a beat and make heads connect the dots with a heavy barrage of pop culture references, while Zumbi completes the picture with his usual poetic and socially-conscious lyrics.
