Today’s turntablist video comes from the long time vinyl guru, Chris Karns. In his latest video, Karns transforms into a 4-arm turntable sensei, and breaks off the DJ world with a little knowledge, while providing some trippy visuals. About halfway through the video is when he grows his extra pair of arms and GOES IN. The entire video was done in two takes, so if there were a way to perform a live set with four arms, it would look like this. Show some love in the comment section below and enjoy!

The annual Winter Music Conference held in Miami, Florida, can be one of the craziest places in the country to be in early spring, and this year was no exception. While there is a broad range of music being showcased, there is still a heavy hip-hop influence in the 305. Scratch Academy Miami was able to host a Scratch Summit during WMC and brought through hip-hop legends including 2 Live Crew, DJ Cash Money, and more. The summit included speech panels, DJ battles, showcases and other DJ oriented activities, all hosted by the renowned academy. It’s a beautiful thing to see turntablism thriving in sunny south Florida. Peep the recap video below.

In TJ Mizell’s latest post, celebrity blogger, author, and influencer Karen Civil stops by the downtown LA Scratch DJ Academy to mix it up. He teaches her the famous "Baby Scratch" and discovers her new DJ name, DJ UnCivil. Check it out for a quick refresher and to get a glimpse of the Scratch Academy in LA.
One of the most respected DJs in the DMV, DJ Kidd Marvel, has teamed up with up and coming artist Goldlink, to release one of the most unique mixes out this year. The sound of the mix has gone by many names including love trap, dream rap, and chillwave, just to name a few, but Kidd Marvel and his homie Goldlink call it by the name Future Bounce. You’ve probably heard this type of music from the likes of JSMN, Ta-Ku, Disclosure, or any Soulection artist, but Goldlink seems to have a way of putting his own spin on it all. No matter what you call it, Kidd Marvel rips this Do Androids Dance hosted mix, and will be killing the game all week out at SXSW with Goldlink at his side. Check out the mix below and be sure to show them both some love in the comment section.
You may recall several posts regarding the career of NYC DJ, TJ Mizell, including a video of him DJing on the J train, along with several other dope shots. Today’s video is the latest release from his production group and DJ tag team, The Insurgents, consisting of TJ and fellow DJ/producer Christian Colon. Fresh off their first European Tour, their remix of Missy Elliot’s “Hot Boyz” has just been released on Hot Damn Records via All Trap Music. Enjoy the video below with shots from their tour through Europe, NYC, and a special guest cameo from uncle Snoop Dogg himself!
The legendary ENFERNO is at it again with another live remix video. Fresh off his BBC Radio1 Diplo & Friends feature, the legendary DJ breaks the music world off with a tasteful mix of downtempo music and love trap. If hearing the remix wasn’t mind blowing enough, in his live remix video, ENFERNO goes absolutely nuts on the turntables, Maschine, and keyboard while making it all look like a breeze. This isn’t the first release like this from him but in my opinion this is easily one of his best. Leave your comments below!
We are excited to team up with MyMP3Pool.com to display their monthly top 50 downloads and we will be posting the charts bi-weekly. Here are the top 50 downloads for the month of February… I'm not too surprised on what track tops the list because it is a hot new record by Major Lazer Feat. Pharrell Aersol Can, if you don't have it yet then you're slippin' and you can download it at mymp3pool.com
Check out Yacko artist, Tim Gunter’s latest 808 bootleg to ASTR’s cover of Hold On We’re Going Home. ASTR’s cover is super dope as is, and Tim comes in and kills it with the bass edits. Tim is another NC artist (although recently relocated to Austin, TX) and is killing the game at the young age of 23. Gunter took the first place spot at the 2013 Red Bull Thre3style U championship, and was ranked #6 on Billboard’s “Next Big Sound”. Performing alongside the likes of A-Trak, Three Six Mafia, Bingo Players and more, this dude is not to be slept on. Peep the track below and enjoy!
Today’s exclusive mix comes from one of the most reputable DJ’s in North Carolina, DJ A-Minor. Not only is homie one of Red Bull’s main turntablists in the NC region, but, along with DJ Complete, he happens to be an official DJ for the Charlotte Bobcats. This mix is a continuation of his iPod Food series, and compiles a ton of great music that has been influenced by the North Carolina music scene, along with A-Minor’s personal taste. This edition combines a nice mix of trap, Brazilian bass, hip-hop, with a touch of jersey club AKA all of the crack you will need for your commute or next party.
Our good friends over at DJServicePack.com have compiled an infographic breaking down the hottest urban tracks in seven of the biggest hip-hop cities in the country. This may sound familiar, but what separates this chart from most, is that it has been compiled by the top DJs in each city. While other charts can be incredibly useful, this one in particular offers a new perspective on what songs are really going off in each city. Some of the results may come as a surprise, but that is what is great about it. The site even goes as far as reporting which DJs came up with the list, so there is no question of legitimacy. The cities included are Los Angeles, Atlanta, Washington D.C., New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and Houston/Dallas. Click on the link below to check out the full infographic and don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comment section!
Today’s turntablist video comes from familiar faces and renowned DJs Skratch Bastid and Chris Karns. To celebrate Valentines Day, the two turntable whisperers did a nice routine using the Doobie Brothers’ track “Long Train Runnin”. The vocal sample goes “Without love, where would you be right now?” which would likely be their inspiration for a v-day video release. Whether you have a valentine or not this year, check out Chris Karns killing it on the finger drumming while Skratch Bastid cuts it up. This video takes place at the Beat Drop music and production school in Calgary. Enjoy!
A couple weeks ago our own DJ Blaze did an unboxing and first impression video on the Reloop RP-8000 professional MIDI turntable. Today’s video comes straight from Reloop, and presents renowned DJs, DJ Angelo and DJ Fong Fong, as they transform into the disc jockey versions of Mario and Luigi. The two turntablists perform on the new RP-8000 and demonstrate some of its new features in a creative way. This video combines a nice amount of comedy and DJing, while promoting the new product from Reloop.
Every year there is a magical event held on a magical boat and it goes by the name of HOLY SHIP!!! This year, the ship hosted names including A-Trak, Just Blaze, Diplo, Flosstradamus, with a special guest appearance by Pharrell. After watching this video, the public gets a taste of how truly wild this event can get, but if you can look past all of the bouncing body parts (we won’t blame you if you can’t) there is actually some dope DJing taking place.
Today’s turntablist video comes from the beautiful and talented DJ Lady Style out of Paris, France. To be honest I had never heard of her before this video, but after ten seconds of watching her cut it up I was an instant fan. Homegirl throws it down over Kavinsky’s Roadgame track, and lets the Internet know she isn’t playing! With sponsorship from Vestax and UDG, this will not be the last we hear from the young diva.
In the past month we have had a couple features from the NYC rising celebrity DJ, TJ Mizell, and the content has been nothing short of awesome. Today, TJ raises the bar with his new music video with a special cameo featuring DMC (of RUN DMC) himself. Check out the visuals of Mizell and DMC chopping up Lorde’s “Royals” over Swizzymack’s “Drip”. Mizell collaborated with producer SEENO on the track, and what came out is pure dope.
A few weeks ago you may have noticed our post on DJ legend of Public Enemy, Chuck D. To honor the group, Serato released an exclusive 12’’ Serato x Public Enemy Shut Em Down Vinyl Pressing. Today’s turntablist video features Toronto native and disc jockey extraordinaire, Scratch Bastid, doing a quick scratch routine on the new wax. Short, simple, and dope!
Today’s spotlight features the homie over at SKAM Artist DJ’s, DJ Jerzy. Straight out of Chicago, Jerzy has been making noise across the country spinning next to internationally known artists including Justin Bieber, Pitbull, Mike Posner, along with corporate clients such as Patron, Beats By Dre, Red Bull, Nike and many more. DJ Booth DJ's presents the official release of his official 2013 recap video.
DJ Booth has put together an extensive breakdown of the top 5 DJ record pools of 2014, and which one is right for you. Instead of spending hours searching through the dark abyss of the Internet to only come up with three sub-par remixes, these pools consolidate all of your needs in a convenient, one stop shop for MP3s.
Over 11 years ago the world lost one of the greatest DJ’s to ever be behind a pair of turntables. Today, on Jam Master Jay's birthday, true homage is paid.
TJ Mizell is not only the son of legendary Jam Master Jay of RUN DMC, but he also happens to be one of the most dope DJs in the game right now. In his new video he is featured scratching and beat juggling over the Williamsburg Bridge, as he powers his turntables on the J train using a car battery. This type of stunt has never been caught on camera before, and to our knowledge, never even attempted.
This week’s turntablism video comes straight from sunny San Diego, as DJcity gives us another installment of their Cutting Room series. Acclaimed DJ’s including DJ Costik, Cwitch, DJ Happee, Impakt, Rayted-R, and DJ Slowhand bring the poolside vibes in this dope compilation. All of these guys have made a name for themselves in the turntablist world, and this video shows why. Beyond the scratching work, Costik did some nice editing with the video samples, while Happee provided the instrumentals. Stay tuned for additional cuts from these guys, any many more.
