10 Fastest-Rising Hip-Hop Songs on Spotify Right Now (Under 40 Million Streams)

"All I know it was 'Mo Bamba' on repeat."
Publish date:

Each and every week, we break down the 10 Most-Played Hip-Hop Songs on Spotify. It's our second-most cherished pastime, right after carefully curating our weekly best new music series, 10 New Songs You Need This Week.

The thing about tracking the biggest hip-hop songs in the world every week, though, is that they're usually from the same cast of characters. Drake, Cardi B, Post Malone—those who dominate popular music usually do just that: dominate.

So, to mix things up just a bit, and get a better picture of what songs are blowing up but haven't yet reached the upper echelon of popularity, we've started a new biweekly chart: 10 Fastest-Rising Hip-Hop Songs on Spotify. Excluding songs over 40 million total streams (what we've deemed the threshold for mainstream ubiquity), these are the songs with the biggest increase in plays over the past seven days.

In other words, these are the 10 songs under 40 million streams gaining the most steam right now on a global scale.

Before we take a look at the complete list, a few friendly observations:

  • All four of Sheck Wes' available singles on Spotify have over one million streams, but "Mo Bamba" is easily the rising star's runaway hit. At over 26 million streams, it easily tops the 2.4 million of his next-highest, "Live SheckWes Die SheckWes."
  • Of Quavo's three new singles ("W O R K I N M E," "L A M B T A L K," "B U B B L E G U M"), "W O R K I N M E" is the one, as it's nearly doubled the total streams of the other two songs combined. All three are equally annoying to type out, though.
  • "YOSEMITE" has now surpassed "CAROUSEL" as the third-most popular ASTROWORLD track for Travis Scott. Even so, it's 32 million streams remain leagues behind current totals for "SICKO MODE" (90M) and "STARGAZING" (68M).

The List (all-time streams):

  1. Sheck Wes "Mo Bamba" (26.7M)
  2. Quavo "W O R K I N M E" (12.1M)
  3. Wiz Khalifa "Hopeless Romantic" ft. Swae Lee (37.7M)
  4. Travis Scott "YOSEMITE" (31.9M)
  5. Smokepurrp "Nephew" ft. Lil Pump (15.3M)
  6. Young Thug "Chanel (Go Get It)" ft. Gunna & Lil Baby (6.3M)
  7. Travis Scott "CAN'T SAY" (25M)
  8. Nicki Minaj "Barbie Dreams" (16.6M)
  9. Travis Scott "STOP TRYING TO BE GOD" (27M)
  10. Trippie Redd "Taking A Walk" (22.9M)
