10 New Songs You Need This Week

Happy Halloween, bitches. It's that time of year again, so if you're ready to have a spooky good time (a.k.a. drinking Jameson and eating fun-size Milky Ways until you fall asleep halfway through some horror movie Netflix's algorithm recommended and you weren't crazy about it because it only got a 6.1 on IMDB but there aren't any other good choices from the last 20 years) then I have the perfect playlist for your holiday festivities! Just don't have too much fun because you still have to wake up for work the next two days because Halloween on a Wednesday sucks ass.

Anyway, here are the 10 best songs from the last week. (And if you'd prefer a Spotify playlist, click here.)

Smino — “L.M.F.”

Smino can do no wrong. The Midwest artist’s new single is lemon pepper and Remy for the soul, another example of his shining chemistry with Seattle-based production wizard Sango. Noir drops November 8.

The Alchemist — “Fork in the Pot” ft. Conway, Westside Gunn & ScHoolboy Q

The first Genius comment for "Fork in the Pot" reads “THANK GOD FOR ALCHEMIST BEATS CONWAY KILLED IT SCHOOLBOY KILLED IT WESTSIDE GUNN GOT ME SAYING AY YO IN REAL LIFE THIS HOOK TOO FIRE." That's all you really need to know.

Takeoff — “Last Memory”

Quavo flopped so Takeoff could fly.

Rapsody — “Sojourner” ft. J. Cole

Two of North Carolina’s most esteemed rappers pack a textbook worth of knowledge into a pair of verses over the contemplative sounds of North Carolina’s most esteemed producer, 9th Wonder.

Baby Keem – “Baby Keem”

TWO PHONE BABY KEEM.” Also known as Hykeem Carter—who notched two production credits on Jay Rock’s Redemption and another on Black Panther The Album—Baby Keem just released his new full-length The Sound of Bad Habit, executive produced by Cardo.

Future — “Os”

After the saccharine bloat of WRLD ON DRUGS, Future’s liberation of “Os”—a rumored leak from his still unreleased Ape Shit collab tape with Mike WiLL Made-It that was first teased in 2015—is a breath of floor-shaking air that will make you want to flip a table over.

Lucky Daye — “Roll Some Mo”

New Keep Cool/RCA signee Lucky Daye has a gift for textures and, like most contemporary R&B newcomers, has Frank Ocean's influence running through the veins of this music. Like it usually is, this is a great thing. He’s even got a car in his cover art…

Mick Jenkins — “Padded Locks” ft. Ghostface Killah

Hearing Ghostface say “Donald Trump is a piece of shit” over a shimmering Kaytra beat is a special joy.

Nao — “If You Ever” ft. 6LACK

I was a bit hesitant at first about 6LACK and his moody midnight sermons atop such a warm, sultry, upbeat sound bed—co-produced by Mura Masa—but with Nao's airy vocals contrasting, "If You Ever" is a sweet duet.

Matt Ox — “Walk Out” ft. Valee

Matt Ox really went from fidget-spinning meme fame to channeling his obvious admiration for Chief Keef and Playboi Carti into an album I will go on record as saying is "pretty fire." On top of that, he recorded two songs with Valee and the better one was HIS song. I'm not saying Matt Ox is the best 13-year-old rapper in the world who also kind of looks like he would eat your soul if you stared directly into his eyes, but I'm not not saying that.
