In light of domestic abuse allegations levied against Joey Purp, and sexual assault levied against drummer Stix and collaborator Towkio, Chance The Rapper has spoken out against the accused on Twitter.
"In the past 2 days I’ve heard too many stories of domestic abuse, sexual violence and rape perpetrated by ppl I called friends. I am ashamed of yall," Chance tweeted. "These stories will be amplified and your victims will receive the justice they deserve."
The major takeaways here are twofold. Firstly, Chance did the polar opposite of A$AP Rocky when his friend and fellow group member A$AP Bari was accused of sexual assault. Here, we see Chance speaking out and taking a modicum of responsibility in light of the accusations.
Chance's response, especially in light of his R. Kelly interview with Cassius, is exactly the kind of behavior we would hope to see from community leaders.
