Rap Quiz: Bet You Don't Know These Label Rosters

Holy Moses. It's been a long time since the last quiz. Sorry. Sometimes important shit like Yelawolf albums and getting really high get in the way. For the past 24 hours I've been really nerding out about Vic Mensa signing to Roc Nation and it's got me obsessed with labels. What does it mean to be signed? What does it mean to be on a label? What about imprints?

Labels are like Game of Thrones, there's so many different "houses" it can be hard to keep track of all the inner-workings, and even harder to figure out who belongs where. This is really a larger think piece about the state of labels in 2015, but my brain is kind of mush after trying to figure out Vic Mensa's situation, so I'm incapable of writing it (right now anyway). Still, while labels have my attention I thought a quiz might be a good way to set it all up. We obsess over labels, but truthfully does it matter? Are we really affected by what label releases that new album? Why not take the quiz to find out how much you really know about label lineups.

Below you will find eight different labels, each with four artists listed, but in true Sesame Street fashion, one of these things is not like the other. For each label, one of the artists listed doesn't belong. Your job is to figure out which artist is the outsider. The ones who belong are linked to a song of theirs (of my choosing), and the one who doesn't fit is linked to a fail gif.

With so much attention given to labels how well do you really know the details? Can you talk the talk and walk the walk?

Truthfully, I'm still confused. Sometimes artists are signed to two labels, sometimes they are on one that's owned by another; it can be hard to tell where one ends and the other begins. Still, I tried to make it pretty straightforward. So....how'd you do?

Now for that think piece...
