Dizzy Wright Breaks Down His Lyrics, Talks Childhood Rap Career & Weed

Dizzy Wright's got a new album, The Growing Process, out in the world, and to celebrate the Funk Volume rapper sat down with us for an extended conversation that included a lyrical breakdown of one of the album's standout tracks, "Can I Feel This Way." It's the perfect song to really dig into because it covers so much ground, from the pressures of technology to why he switched his rap name to Dizzy Wright and much more. Plus, he talks about his mom kicking him out of the house when he was a teenager, a topic he delved into deeper later in our conversation.

2 Chainz, Central Cee & HoodCelebrityy: Best of the Week

2 Chainz, Central Cee, HoodCelebrityy, and more, all had the best new songs on Audiomack this week.

I'll admit, I have to assume this is common knowledge for serious Dizzy Wright fans, but I had no idea about his deeper past in the music industry. If you're like me and just playing catch up now, when he was a kid he was in a group called DaFuture, managed by his mom, who also wrote their raps, and he did some concert reporting and interviewing as well. It was those early experiences that really pushed him to sign to an independent label, and those experiences he touches on in that video. See, now it all makes sense.

And of course we couldn't let the man go without asking him about weed became come on now, he's Dizzy Wright and it's weed.

As the album title say, Dizzy is an artist who's constantly striving to do better, and isn't shy about letting us inside his life, even when that growing process isn't always pretty or perfect. We need more of those artists. You can check out Growing Process on iTunes right about now.
