More often that not, luxuries that from a distance seem mind-blowing and amazing are disappointments when encountered up close. Once you slip past that velvet rope you learn that the VIP section is exactly like the rest of the club, except way more expensive and with a rope. But every so often you encounter some rare luxury that really does live up to the hype.
Case in point, last winter we covered Bacardi's Triangle event with Kendrick Lamar, and it went so well that Bacardi invited us to experience their full VIP treatment last Friday. We said yes because come on, like anyone would say no. And that's how we ended up with Uber picking us up in a custom convertible Bentley, which we only learned was a convertible when the driver asked if we wanted the top down and we said yes real cool like, we weren't so blown away by just being inside a Bentley that we hadn't even noticed it was a convertible.
And then we hit a pre-party DJed by the legendary Mix Master Mike before being ferryed to the Bacardi Footprint and handed a Bacardi and coke. Especially in a festival atmosphere, when the crowds were so dense you could barely move at times, being able to kick back and relax between catching sets was better. It just was. It was better.
We're not going to front like we're too cool for school, like it's no big deal. When you write about music for a living you don't get a retirement plan, you spend more nights shackled to a laptop than partying with famous rappers, but you do sometimes get to pull up to music festivals in a Bentley, drink and chill at a Bacardi tent, and in those instances, life is pretty sweet. And the best part is that you can get in on the action too. Keep an eye on their site for the next opportunity to party with Bacardi and enjoy some VIP treatment too. Sometimes the hype really is as good as it seems.
