According to WSB-TV in Atlanta, an indictment resulting from the April 26 shooting of Lil Wayne's tour bus alleges that Young Thug (Jeffery Lamar Williams) and Birdman (Bryan Williams) were involved in the attempted killing of Wayne.
The indictment alleges that Jimmy Winfrey, also known as "PeeWee Roscoe," fired several shots at Lil Wayne's bus from a white Chevy Camaro, and did so to carry out a threat made by Young Thug, who has sided with Birdman in his dispute with Wayne over leaving Cash Money and Lil Wayne's multi-million dollar lawsuit.
“After Atlanta Police discontinued their escort, (Winfrey) and fellow Blood Gang members entered Interstate 285 from Atlanta Road in Cobb County in pursuit of the buses occupied by (Lil Wayne’s) group. “(That’s when) the white sports car pulled beside the buses, shots were then fired into the buses from the sports car with a .40 caliber handgun and a 9mm handgun.” - The indictment
Both Young Thug and Birdman have not yet been charged with any crime, and bringing those charges will mean establishing both Winfrey's guilt and producing firm evidence that he was acting at Young Thug and Birdman's behest, a high legal standard to clear, although the indictment also states that police are investigating possible Blood Gang ties and look to Thug's "Halftime" video as possible evidence. Whether the two are ever charged or not, the indictment is another chapter in the quickly spiraling story of the Cash Money break up and a powerful reminder of just how serious the rift between Birdman and Wayne may be.
Winfrey is due to appear in court next Friday, while Young Thug was arrested earlier today by U.S. Marshalls in an unrelated incident following "terroristic threats" he allegedly made towards a mall security guard.
