DJBooth Announces Our New Top Prospects...

Forget hype, forget the charts, we genuinely believe these four artists are pushing music into new and unexplored areas.

Trying to guess the next rapper to blow up is an intellectual exercise that involves unraveling an often staggeringly complex web of co-signs and label support, attempting to read the ever-shifting winds of popular culture and deciphering an increasingly complicated and fractured music industry.

All of that can be fun, but it's a distraction from what really matters. And because it so often seems like the world has forgotten, the thing that really matters is the music.

So our Top Prospects series isn't about who's "got next" or who's going to "blow up" soon, mostly because ultimately we don't really care about those things. What we care about, the core reason we even run DJBooth at all, is because there's no better feeling than discovering incredible music. We're addicted to that "Yo, you gotta hear this!" rush, and so feeding that addiction is the reason, the sole reason, we've been running this Top Prospects series for over a year now.

Forget hype, forget the charts, these profiles are highlighting artists we genuinely believe are pushing music into new and unexplored areas, and they're doing it at a time in their careers when there's still that thrill of discovery. So with that said, it's time to announce our sixth group of Top Prospects.

Starting the first week of November, we'll be unleashing in-depth profiles of each artist, culminating in a Top Prospects playlist comprised of exclusive music from each artist. We can't guarantee that any of these artists will one day become famous, but honestly, it doesn't matter. We can guarantee that all of them are worth listening to - after all this is music.

What else matters?
