J. Cole's New "Road to Homecoming" Documentary is a Must Watch

Go behind-the-scenes with J. Cole as he puts the finishing touches on "2014 Forest Hills Drive"

Just last week, J. Cole announced that his Homecoming Concert Film would premiere on HBO in January, a huge accomplishment for any artist and especially for Cole, who saw his stock rise exponentially in 2015.

Now, to get fans hyped for the concert film, Cole and company have posted the first episode of their The Road to Homecoming: Fuck Money, Spread Love documentary series, a behind-the-scenes look at the making of 2014Forest Hills Drive. The inaugural episode finds Cole making final preparations in the days before the album's release and offers a fascinating look at the real grind that goes into perfecting a project like FHD; it's less nights spent celebrating at the club and more early mornings spent meticulously tweaking the sound of one snare drum. For Cole fans or anyone interested in how a huge album is made, this one's a much watch.

The Forest Hills Drive: Homecoming Concert Film premieres January 9 at 10 PM on HBO, and those interested can download the HBO NOW app to stream it on a plethora of devices. In the meantime, we'll keep you posted on new episodes of The Road to Homecoming as they're released.
