Following the late 2015 announcement all was quiet on the southern front until mid-February, when the pair appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to perform the album's lead single, "Rolls Royce Weather Everyday."
Now, two short weeks later, we have a release date (March 4) and the cover art in hand, thanks to Kanye the Friendly Tweeter:
Given that the album's title is a mash-up, combining 2 Chainz' hometown of College Park, Atlanta, and Wayne's hometown of Hollygrove, New Orleans, it makes sense then that the cover art for the release is also a mash-up, which finds Wayne's face tattoos layered on top of 2 Chainz mug. Creative.
Meanwhile, the decision to have Kanye announce that the project will be released this Friday is quite interesting.
Should we expect an exclusive stream on TIDAL? Given Kanye's promotional efforts over the past two weeks to convert the entire world into TIDAL users, along with Wayne's history with the multimedia company, it's not a stretch to assume that is the route that will be taken with ColleGrove.
We've reached out to 2 Chainz management inquiring what their plans are for the release, but they have not yet replied to our e-mail. We will provide an update if and when we have further information.
