Gucci Mane is Finally a Free Man, Now What?

What does Big Guwop do now that his freedom is more than just a hashtag or slogan on a t-shirt?

Gucci Mane is free! After hearing chants of "Free Big Guwop!" it almost seems surreal that he’s finally out of prison.

The news came first from Snapchat, the CNN of the entertainment industry. Keyshia Ka’oir, Gucci’s girlfriend, released a photo of a hand with the caption “Reunited” that sent the internet in a frenzy. There's now physical footage of Gucci being free, and FADER confirmed as well. So it’s official. Memorial Day shall henceforth now be considered Gucci Mane Freedom Weekend.

Gucci being free means Atlanta is now anxiously awaiting his first public appearance. I wouldn’t be surprised if a parade is thrown in his honor. And as such a huge figure in the city, it’s going to be a huge deal once Gucci announces his plans for the future, a future that hopefully won’t return him behind bars. After releasing a plethora of pre-recorded music from prison, it will be interesting to see what could come from a post-imprisoned Gucci. The hype is high at the moment but will it continue?

They love you while you’re gone but nobody knows how you’ll be received once you return. Gucci’s back but will it be a huge moment or just a momentary trending topic?

Maybe Gucci doesn’t return to recording music. He has already proven that he's Atlanta’s best A&R. Before he left to serve time Young Thug, Rich Homie Quan, Pee-Wee Longway, Migos - almost all of Atlanta’s newest faces - were coming up under his tutelage. He could come out seeking the next big act. Right now a Gucci co-sign could work wonders for an unknown talent. It wouldn’t be difficult for Gucci to break a new act while the spotlight is on him. Atlanta is oozing with potential artists, with Gucci’s ear, he could easily find the next big thing.

Or could Guwop decide to settle down and live a quiet life? Also possible. He has a girlfriend, money from his mixtapes, and a world to catch back up with. I wouldn’t be surprised if he takes time off to readjust to life on the outside. He is already a legend in Atlanta, there’s nothing left for him to prove. He did the time for his crimes and now should enjoy the fruits that have being growing while he’s spent time away.

The possibilities are endless. Hopefully, what Gucci focuses on is staying far from trouble. It’s only right. He has reclaimed his freedom and now doors are open for whatever he wants to do next.

UPDATE: Unsurprisingly, Gucci's next move will be brand new music.
