It's extraordinarily rare to have the opportunity to do something great for yourself and for a great cause, but this is that rare opportunity.
Tech N9ne and Strange Music have made it a point to give back to the troops, and Warrior Built is an inspiring organization, founded by U.S. Marine veteran Nick Hamm, that helps veterans heal through building new community and purpose. Along with Monster Energy, they're proud to announce the Warrior Built contest, and DJBooth is proud to be able to help get the word out.
Tech has written a new song, "PTSD," about his own experiences living with traumatic experiences, and he's left the final verse open. All artists, not just rappers, can submit their own verse in that open section, and then one winner will be selected to travel to Kansas City to record the song and shoot a video for "PTSD" with Tech N9ne. All proceeds will go to Warrior Built.
Given Tech N9ne and Strange Music's extraordinary reach, it's a chance for aspiring artists to truly level up their careers, and make some deeply meaningful music in the process. And crucially, while active and veteran member of the military are especially encouraged to enter, this contest is open to everyone. An estimated 10 percent of Americans live with PTSD, with millions more battling addiction and other mental and physical health challenges. The Warrior Built spirit, and the Strange Music spirit, is open to all of them.
Hit the link below for full contest details, including guidelines, contest duration and how to submit your verse. And keep an eye out for our full interview with Tech N9ne and Warrior Built's Nick Hamm on the deeper meaning behind the contest, coming later this week.
Good luck, and remember, regardless of whether you win this contest or not, whatever you're struggling with, you are not alone.
