While the hip-hop world is still reeling over the death of the legendary Phife Dawg this past March, there's now at least the promise of new music to help soften the blow.

In a recent appearance on the Rap Radar Podcast, Epic Records chairman and CEO L.A. Reid confirmed that A Tribe Called Quest finished one last album before Phife passed away.

[It is] a brand new album that they recorded before Phife [Dawg] passed away. I’m really happy about it man, it’s really something special. It’s one of the things I’m most excited about over everything we’re working on.

Both record label turmoil and internal conflict have kept longtime fans from a new Tribe album for the better part of two decades, so knowledge of brand new material from the Native Tongues representatives has us understandably hyped. Hell, the announcement that a full ATCQ album exists, one that includes contributions from the beloved Phife Dawg, is grounds for a small parade throughout the streets of Queens.

Further details are slim, but we can all breathe a collective sigh of relief knowing there will be proper closure to one of the greatest and most influential stories and legacies in the history of hip-hop.
