Mike Dean's Mixing 'Birds In The Trap,' Won't Let Travis Scott Release It Until He's Done

The Houston native was supposed to drop his new album weeks ago, but it still isn't complete.

After an initial delay earlier this month, Travis Scott promised fans his new album, Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight, would arrive on Friday, August 26. Veteran producer, songwriter and engineer Mike Dean isn't letting his Houston neighbor release the LP until he's through mixing the album, though.

While Scott has offered no one reason for the album's delay up until this point, it appears Dean's availability to mix the album might have been the cause. If you want to blame anyone—and nobody needs to take the blame—how about Frank Ocean?

Dean also suggests that, despite the delays, the final version of the album will be worth the wait for fans. And who knows, maybe it will even convert a few haters?

In all seriousness, though, Travis Scott is lucky to have a veteran like Mike Dean working on his behalf. Not only will the mix on Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight sound fantastic -- we know this from Dean's impressive history with Kanye West and G.O.O.D Music—but the anticipation, assuming the album is as "lit" as Dean suggests, might just lead to an even bigger moment for the rising star.
