Kanye West Announces Tyga Signing, But Label Remains G.O.O.D. Music

At a pop-up show in New York on Wednesday evening, Kanye announced Tyga is the newest member of G.O.O.D Music.

Kanye West has signed Tyga -- yes, that Tyga -- to G.O.O.D Music. On Wednesday evening, at a G.O.O.D Music pop-up show at New York City's Highline Ballroom, West made the announcement in front of a sell-out crowd.

If you're wondering why West would sign Tyga to a recording contract the answer is simple: nepotism. Kanye is famously married to Kim Kardashian, whose half-sister is Kylie Jenner. Jenner is Tyga's longtime on-again-off-again girlfriend. Dots connected.

Tyga released his last album, 2015's The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty, independently via his own Last Kings label, but he's no stranger to working with high-profile music moguls. The California native's previous two full-length releases, Careless World: Rise of the Last King and Hotel California, were both released through a joint deal between Lil Wayne's Young Money and Birdman's Cash Money. Unlike Wayne, however, Tyga was somehow able to squeeze his way out of his Cash Money record deal in late 2014, claiming Birdman never paid him.

For West, Tyga's signing is his second of 2016, following an 11 label bidding war for Desiigner. While fans have given Yeezy a hard time for signing the Panda Man, Desiigner's breakout No. 1 single, as well as the rise of follow-up "Tiimmy Turner," suggest he might just have the laugh last.

Tyga and West previously worked together on 2014's "40 Mill," which was co-produced by Mike Dean.

Ask anyone close to West and they'll tell you that Kanye cannot say "No" to anyone - including, apparently, Tyga.
