Drake's "Views" Becomes First Album to Achieve 1 Billion Streams on Apple Music

In the event you needed further proof that Drake is one of the most popular artists in the world.

Since releasing his 3x multi-Platinum album Views in April, Drake has reached milestone after milestone, breaking sales and charting records left and right.

In addition to debuting at No. 1 on Billboard and racking up one million equivalent album units in the first six days after its release, now you can add another bullet point to his ever-expanding resume with the news that Views has become the first album to achieve one billion streams on Apple Music.

Of course, perspective here is key.

Apple Music is still an infant—launching in June of 2015, the service is only 15 months old. As the streaming platform continues to grow, and as streaming, in general, becomes increasingly more popular, over time more artists will reach assuredly reach this plateau. Also, earning one billion streams means that all the songs that make up Views were streamed, in total, one billion times—the album was not streamed in-full one billion times (that would equate to 20 billion streams).

Interestingly, despite their 14-day exclusive head start, Apple Music isn't even the platform where Views has been streamed the most. That title belongs to Spotify, where Views has racked up 2.7 billion streams.

It's Drake's world, ladies and gentlemen. He's just letting us take in the view.
