Five months ago, Chance The Rapper appeared on The Tonight Show to perform "Blessings" and announce the release date for Coloring Book. Now in the midst of his Magnificent Coloring World Tour, Chano was invited back to appropriately perform "Blessings (Reprise)."
Much like his SNL performance of "Ultralight Beam" alongside Kanye West this past February, Chance's performance on Monday evening (October 3), accompanied by special guests Anthony Hamilton, Ty Dolla $ign, Raury, and D.R.A.M., was heavenly.
From the vocal performances to the live instrumentation to the gospel choir, the Chicago native's special version of "Blessings (Reprise)" was so spiritual it could deliver faith without religion.
If it seems like Chance has had a new TV performance every other week, it's because over the past year he's made nine late night appearances (including his moving tribute to Muhammad Ali the ESPYs) and one daytime appearance on Ellen. While Drake might have a stranglehold on the charts, aside from Kendrick Lamar, no artist is booking, planning and executing consistently memorable TV performances like Chance.
Remember, when the praises go up, the blessings come down.
