It was all good just a week ago.
Last Tuesday (October 11), we published an article about RZA reportedly signing Azealia Banks to a record contract and her career prospects following the signing. If anyone could turn around Banks' career, it was RZA. Unfortunately—or fortunately, depending on your stance on Banks—that will no longer be possible.
As reported by TMZ this past Sunday (October 16), Banks was removed from a party hosted by Russell Crowe in Los Angeles hotel suite after she became verbally and physically abuse toward his guests. RZA, who invited Banks to the party as his plus one, initially stayed quiet following the reported drama, but today, in a newly-published statement on his Facebook page, the Wu-Tang Clan veteran opened up about the incident, the record contract, and a future that doesn't include working with the volatile Banks.
It's not surprising to learn that Azealia Banks remains radioactive despite no longer sharing her incendiary thoughts on Twitter, nor is it surprising to learn that an artist lied about signing a record deal before a deal was even presented, let alone signed.
Ultimately, Banks has nobody to blame but herself for her abhorrent behavior. Working with RZA would have been manna from heaven, but instead of cashing in she has now been cashed out. She had 15 minutes of fame left on the meter, but that time has now expired.
