Rap Twitter went into a frenzy this past weekend when Kanye West was listed—according to TIDAL—as a producer, composer and lyricist on Drake's "Two Birds, One Stone," a song in which Drake took pot shots at both Kid Cudi and Pusha T.
Would Kanye really help Drake pen a record that took aim at Cudder and his current G.O.O.D. Music president?
The short answer: no.
In an exclusive interview with Genius, Drake's longtime producer Noah "40" Shebib revealed that Kanye merely helped him produce the track.
“I made it from some drums he had given me. Not quite the elaborate story the world is looking for.”
40's right. The world was looking for a fantastic, elaborate, WWE-like storyline with a narrative that made the entire situation appear as though all of the beef, pettiness and diss tracks are nothing more than a well-orchestrated marketing plan, but instead they got the truth.
