ScHoolboy Q Reveals Plans for 2017 Album Release: "F*ck a Break"

Groovy Q stakes his next claim in TDE's coveted release schedule.

Eleven months ago, TDE President Dave Free revealed the label's plans to release new albums from ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, SZA, and Isaiah Rashad.

Despite SZA's long-overdue full-length debut still idling on the backburner, which has subsequently caused the songstress and lone female artist on the TDE roster to threaten retirement, the label did deliver albums from Q, Soulo and Isaiah, along with a surprise release from Kendrick Lamar (untitled unmastered.) and the debut of Lance Skiiiwalker.

Now, as we inch closer to the end of 2016, one member of TDE is already promising a release for 2017.

On Sunday evening (December 18), ScHoolboy Q, who released his GRAMMY-nominated Blank Face LP on July 8, took to Instagram following the conclusion of his Blank Face Tour to announce his plans for a 2017 album drop.

In a new interview with Elliott Wilson and Brian "B. Dot" Miller on the Rap Radar podcast, recorded during Ab-Soul's promo run in New York earlier this month, Free revealed that the label has "another project people don’t know about" that could be announced at the top of 2017.

Did Q jump the gun on the announcement? Or is this mysterious TDE project a new full-length from Jay Rock? Or SZA? Or possibly even Kendrick's next album? Could it even be *gasp* a Black Hippy album? (Q's comments from earlier this year would point to that being an absolute "No.")

While fans patiently wait for further information on the next addition to the TDE catalog, we suggest digging back into all five 2016 releases.
