This Curren$y & Big K.R.I.T. Tape Was Bound To Happen Eventually

Spitta and Krizzle coming together for a full project makes too much sense not to happen.

It's possible Curren$y turned into a rapping zombie and nobody ever bothered to notice.

On the heels of January's announcement that a collaborative project with Freddie Gibbs is already in the works, and a 2016 campaign that included an astounding 13 mixtape releases, Spitta uploaded a video to Instagram on Thursday evening (February 2), teasing the birth of a separate joint project with longtime friend and collaborator Big K.R.I.T. entitled Lacs n Chevys.

While Curren$y and Gibbs have worked together on three separate occasions ("Scottie Pippen," "Stash House" and "Tell a Friend), Curren$y and K.R.I.T. have worked alongside one another an impressive nine times over the last seven years:

  • Big K.R.I.T. - "Moon & Stars (Remix)" ft. Curren$y & Killa Kyleon (2010)
  • Big K.R.I.T. - "No Wheaties" ft. Curren$y & Smoke DZA (2010)
  • Curren$y - "Jet Life" ft. Wiz Khalifa & Big K.R.I.T. (2012)
  • Curren$y - "Skybourne" ft. Big K.R.I.T. & Smoke SZA (2010)
  • Curren$y & Smoke DZA - "10 Bricks" ft. French Montana & Big K.R.I.T. (2013)
  • Lloyd Banks - "Change Lanes" ft. Curren$y & Big K.R.I.T (2016)
  • Smoke DZA - "Etc Etc" ft. Curren$y & Big K.R.I.T (2010)
  • Talib Kweli - "Everywhere I Go" ft. Kendra Ross, Big K.R.I.T. & Curren$y (2014)
  • Wiz Khalifa - "Glass House" ft. Curren$y & Big K.R.I.T (2010)

Given all of the collaborative work Curren$y has done over the past decade, including projects with The Alchemist, Chase N. Cashe, Harry Fraud, Purps, Sledgren, Smoke DZA, Styles P, Wiz Khalifa, and Young Roddy, it's actually unbelievable that he and K.R.I.T. have yet to come together for a joint release.

Before you go ahead and name your first born Lacs n Chevys, however, it's my professional obligation to warn our readers to take this "announcement" with a grain of salt. Collaborative projects are seemingly teased on a weekly basis, but past history has shown us that most of these conceptualized brainchildren are never born.

For instance, where is that Big Boi and Killer Mike EP? Or how about the Childish Gambino and Chance The Rapper project?

Of course, a complete joint project between Spitta and Krizzle would be a most welcome addition to any hip-hop fan's mixtape collection, and their work history makes this collaboration more likely than most project pairings, but if Lacs N Chevys never materializes beyond this Instagram post, at least we can fall back on all of their previous work together.
