Childish Gambino Collects Sixth RIAA Certification With "Redbone" Milestone

It's also the fastest single of Gambino's career to reach RIAA certification.

Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) was right when he recently declared genres dead, pointedly stating that people "just want quality." For proof, look no further than "Redbone," the dynamic second single from his "Awaken, My Love!" album.

Released on November 18, 2016, the Ludwig Göransson-produced "Redbone" has officially been certified Gold by the RIAA, becoming the artist's sixth career certification. It's also the fastest Glover single to earn a certification to date, reaching Gold status in just three months and beating out his previous mark for "3005," which took nine months to reach the same milestone.

"Redbone," to date the only single from "Awaken, My Love!" to earn a certification, joins previously-certified Platinum singles "Heartbeat" and "3005," Gold-certified singles "Sweatpants" and "Bonfire," and 2013's Gold-certified album Because the Internet.

In addition to netting him a shiny, new plaque, "Redbone" also has the designation of being Glover's highest-charting single to date, peaking at No. 48 on the Billboard Hot 100 during its 12 weeks on the chart.

Glover is currently working on a plethora of film projects and has no plans to tour the album, but fans can enjoy a live performance of "Redbone" from Gambino's appearance on Jimmy Fallon this past December.
