This might come as a surprise to many of our readers, but Drake is incredibly popular.

Like, really really popular.

According to an Apple source who spoke with The Verge, Drake's More Life was streamed 89.9 million times in the first 24 hours on Apple Music, which is a single day album stream record. As of Monday afternoon (March 20), the 22 tracks that make up Drake's not-an-album-playlist are currently holding the top 22 spots on Apple Music's songs chart.

Meanwhile, on Spotify, in addition to occupying five of the top 10 spots and more than half (16) of the top 30, according to The OutCast Agency, the PR firm who represents Spotify, in total, More Life earned 61.3 million streams in its first full day on Sunday, March 19.

This total is the highest-ever mark for an album on the streaming giant, besting Ed Sheeran's previous record of 56.7 million, set earlier this month when he released Divide. Additionally, More Life has also captured the one day record for most streams by an artist with 76.3 million streams (again, besting Sheeran who held the mark at 68.6 million).

Unlike with Views, which was an Apple Music exclusive, More Life was immediately made available on Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, Google Play Music and Amazon, which means when combined, the album was streamed more than 150 million times in the first 24 hours following it's Saturday night release.

On both Apple Music and Spotify, the three most popular More Life songs are "Portland," "Passionfruit" and "Free Smoke."

As for what this means for album sales, early projections have More Life reaching between 500-550k SPS (sales plus streaming), with 225-250k coming from pure sales through digital purchases made. By comparison, Drake's record-setting Views totaled 1.04 million SPS first week, with 852k accounting for pure sales.
