Joey Bada$$ has yet to announce the line-up for the 2017 edition of STEEZ Day, a yearly, one-day festival that celebrates the life of rapper Capital STEEZ—the late Pro Era emcee who took his own life in 2012—but during his appearance this morning (June 12) on Everyday Struggle, he "let the cat out of the bag" by revealing that controversial Florida rapper XXXtentacion will be on the bill.
Given his rapid rise in popularity over the past six months, XXXtentacion being booked for a hip-hop event—despite his name being linked to assault allegations—is not surprising. Likewise, it also wasn't surprising to find out that, due to his violent behavior at shows, several venues turned down Joey's STEEZ Day festival.
"Even for my STEEZ Day festival, you know, damn, I'm kinda going to let the cat out the bag, but I got X on the bill for my STEEZ Day festival, and I got turned down by a venue or two," said Badass.
Joey's revelation comes less than a week after the "Look At Me!" rapper was punched in the face onstage during a performance in San Diego.
"They're going to see the headline and they're going to pull out," said Budden in response to Joey's story. "Younger niggas that have cultivated these followings, if y'all are trying to get to the money, fighting with one another is the worst possible way to do it."
This is the second time in 13 months that violent behavior at a rap concert has had a negative effect on a Joey Bada$$ event. Last June, following a fatal shooting at New York venue Irving Plaza during a T.I. concert, Joey's show at the venue was canceled.
