Holy Sh*t You Need to Watch T-Pain's Beautiful "Mashup" Video

T-Pain for president.

In a world where we’re constantly inundated with bad news from around the world at a moment’s notice, it can become all too easy to forget about the simple joys in life. Joys like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, a nice breeze on a hot day—and T-Pain singing beautifully about his love for strippers.

For his recent appearance on the new web series To The Beat with Kurt Hugo Schneider, the man who essentially introduced the world to the fantastic potential of Auto-Tune ditched his vocal digitizer and went au naturel for a medley of his biggest hits backed by live piano and violin.

Holy shit, this sounds fantastic.

5 New Albums You Need to Hear This Week

EST Gee, Nasty C, Idahams, Mura Masa, and KA$HDAMI all released new albums this week that you need to hear.

T-Pain is front and center in a smoky, sensually lit living room, accompanied by Kurt Hugo Schneider on piano and a violinist as he performs a beautifully stripped-down mash-up of hits like “Best Love Song,” “Buy U a Drank,” “I'm 'n Luv (wit a Stripper)” and “F.B.G.M.”

Much like his appearance on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series that similarly proved to the world he never needed Auto-Tune in the first place, the rappa ternt sanga is in top vocal form on "Mashup." The arrangement of piano and strings turns Pizzle’s strip club anthems into heavenly ballads.

I’ve been asking for a full-fledged T-Pain comeback for a minute now, and this is just one more reason why the world desperately needs Teddy back on top. Trump is president, the earth is melting, and WorldStarHipHop Vine compilations are gone. If that isn’t criteria for needing some comfort in the form of a T-Pain resurgence, I don’t know what is.

Oh, and if you want to see how the whole mash-up went down, there’s an entire behind-the-scenes episode that’s just as interesting as you think turning songs about strippers into beautiful arrangements would be. If you want to see T-Pain curse out an Amazon Alexa unit—which, why wouldn’t you?—that’s also a thing that happens.

God bless T-Pain and his vocal beauty in these dark and confusing times.
