In an recent interview with Mass Appeal to promote his newly-released independent film, Kuso, veteran producer Flying Lotus, who is best known in hip-hop circles for supplying production work to more lyrically-oriented emcees like Kendrick Lamar, Thundercat and Mac Miller, among others, revealed that he hasn't been able to stop listening to Future in 2017.

"I think I listened to the Future album more than anything this year," said FlyLo. "Which is funny to say 'cause, you know, I don't know if I'm the biggest Future fan but I have fuckin' not listened to much else [laughs]. I need some really absurd music to listen to loud and not give a fuck."

While fans often try to dictate the musical tastes of their favorite rappers and producers, as our own Andy James wrote earlier this year, “ignorant” rap is often a guilty pleasure among more “lyrical” artists.

Flying Lotus joins a growing number of respected elder statesmen who have come to appreciate Future's skill set, including Nas, who last year said he's "pushing flows forward," and Roc Marciano, who believes Future is a "genius."

It's unlikely you'll catch FlyLo and Future making music together anytime soon, but the LA-based producer did recently share a studio session with Anderson .Paak, from which we're still patiently waiting for the end result.
