Lil Uzi Vert is a national treasure.
On Sunday, as he was about to enter Round Two on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, Uzi Vert was confronted by a man with a cam reporter for The Hollywood Fix, who asked the Philly native about his non-beef with Rich The Kid ("Blessings to Rich The Kid and his whole family.") and his work with Young Thug ("Me and Thug have, like, 1,500 songs together.").
The unquestionable highlight of their one minute and 26-second interview, though, was Uzi's response to why he wears women's clothing, including pursues and ankle bracelets.
"I bought everything in the men's section," Uzi said. "There's nothing else to buy, I bought everything, literally."
Uzi's style has always been extremely unique, a mixture of emo hip-hop meets pop punk, so it's a bit odd that the reporter not only felt inclined to ask him about his clothing purchases but also deemed his approach as "new." What isn't odd, though, is Uzi's embrace of gender neutral and women's clothing as a style choice. He joins a host of male emcees who proudly enjoy rocking clothing typically associated with women's fashion, including Jaden Smith, Kanye West, Lil B, and Young Thug.
In related news, Uzi recently sat down for an interview with GQ to discuss his "oddball fashion moves." You can read that interview here.
