It's been six years since Busta Rhymes unleashed his last formal studio album, 2012's Year of the Dragon, but over the past three years, the veteran MC has quietly been working on a brand new full-length.

On Sunday, 9th Wonder, who produced the Rhymes-assisted "You Should Know" from Rapsody's 2017 GRAMMY-nominated album Laila's Wisdom, stoked fan excitement for the as-yet-untitled and currently unscheduled album.

"This Busta Rhymes album bruh?" 9th tweeted, "Change your 'top albums of the year lists'.......now...for your own good."

In a duplicate post to his Instagram, 9th reaffirmed that, while he doesn't have a production credit on the project, support quality artistry is essential.

"I don’t need to be on an album to recognize good music," he wrote. "I’m a fan/student/lover of music first."

In addition to his guest feature on Laila's Wisdom, an album which Rhymes himself is on record as saying is "the best album...from top to bottom in its entirety that I've probably [heard] in the last 10 years," the 46-year-old Brooklyn native appeared on four tracks on the final A Tribe Called Quest album, We Got It from Here... Thank You 4 Your Service, released at the tail end of 2016.

As for 9th, the Jamla Records founder is fresh off the late May release of Streams of Thought Vol. 1, a quick-hitter EP with equally legendary emcee Black Thought.
