Fresh off the hype of the Revenge of the Dreamers III sessions, J. Cole released his new single "Middle Child" earlier this week, but according to producer T-Minus, the record was made in an entirely different session.

"We actually put that record out before the Dreamville sessions," he told Complex of the record's creation. "We did that in a completely different session. Just earlier times, about a month and a half or two months ago."

There you have it: "Middle Child" is not a ROTD3 single, but it is a smart marketing move. With all eyes on J. Cole and Dreamville, now is as good a time as any to use the hype to tease new solo records. Don't be surprised if the rest of Dreamville begins to drop solo records ahead of the official ROTD3 release.

When you have the people's attention, it's best to capitalize as much as possible. And with the inventive ROTD3 rollout capturing social media's interest, the momentum is there for Dreamville to make waves in the first quarter of the year.
