5 New Albums You Need to Hear This Week

New albums from Doe Boe, Hotboii, Kweku Flick and more? We have a complete rundown of all the new releases you should make time to hear.

Indie R&B star Brent Faiyaz returns with WASTELAND. Part villainous and part healing, this album comes over two years after 2020’s Fuck the World. Since breaking out with Sonder Son in late 2017, Brent has carved out a lane and image centered around delivering toxicity with a devilish grin. He upped the introspection with woozy single “PRICE OF FAME,” and the full album sees Brent confronting the pain of being a man and artist in demand.

PGF Nuk — Switch Music

“I was 15, running around, making $600 a day selling candy,” PGF Nuk told Audiomack World in the weeks leading up to his new album, Switch Music. A born hustler, the Chicago rapper has burst forward as one of the next-up in the city’s drill scene. “Hot Summer” boasts images of skipping school to stalk the opps, while “Lil Boyz” blends visions of murder with reveling in riches. “Better not play with us,” Nuk raps. You got it.

Ken Car$on — X

Atlanta rapper Ken Car$on rose up from the digital underground, blending punk rock deliveries into his haptic style of hip-hop. Car$on formally debuted in 2021 with Project X, following a string of EPs and signing to Playboi Carti’s Opium. He amps up the energy on new album X. Each of the 20 songs here are elastic and show off Car$on’s futuristic sound. “I knew it would be something significant,” Car$on said of his music in 2018. Four years later, he can say his intuition was right.

Tye Tribbett — ALL THINGS NEW

GRAMMY-winning Gospel artist Tye Tribbett delivers his eighth studio album, ALL THINGS NEW. Blending rap with worship music, Tribbett’s ability to meet the listener where they’re at is his biggest strength as an artist. ALL THINGS NEW sees him continue to grow as a writer and performer across 17 heartfelt tracks that message out hope and uplift in increasingly turbulent times.
