Aux Cord Soul Sample Battle: Nathan S. vs. Lucas G.

You know what they say, if at first you don't win an Aux Cord Battle, try-try again. Fresh off the first Aux Cord Battle in internet history, which I'm now forced to admit I lost to DJ T-GUT, I'm right back in the ring swinging away with the homie Lucas over the greatest hip-hop soul samples

Before we get to the dopeness, a quick refresher for those who are new. You know when you're sitting in the car with the homies, trying to hang onto the aux cord for as long as possible? That feeling is what Aux Cord Battles are all about. I'll go head-to-head with someone, we'll take turns playing a song for five rounds, and whoever has the dopest five song playlist at the end wins. Crucially, we'll do this live, so it's more like an actual battle; someone might bust out a certain song that demands you respond with another certain song. Pre-determined playlists just won't cut it.

If you know Lucas, you know that he's obsessed with soul samples, so while this is definitely his home turf, I still ain't never scured. Our respective playlists, the voting widget and the full podcast of our battle is below. Enjoy - sharing music because music's awesome is awesome.

Lucas' Soul Sample Playlist

  1. Kanye West "Devil in a New Dress"
  2. UGK "Int'l Player's Anthem"
  3. Masta Ace "Good Ol Love"
  4. Jay Z "U Don't Know (Remix)"
  5. Nujabes "End of the World Rhapsody"
  6. Snoop Dogg "G Thang" [Bonus]

Nathan's Soul Sample Playlist

  1. Kanye West "Touch the Sky"
  2. 9th Wonder "The Corner (Willie Hutch Remix)"

  5. Big K.R.I.T. "Dreamin"
  6. Camp Lo "Luchini" [Bonus]

Holy Moses that got heavy, but I'm pretty sure we all know who came out on top. (If you're wondering, that person's name rhymes with Shmathan.) Get to voting, and if you want to join the ever-increasing line of people who want to battle me, hit me up.
