“We should put down CDs and start selling books”. That’s what Vernon Brown Esq. recently told a group of record executives and media professionals during an intimate cocktail reception at the Chelsea Art Museum in New York City. Not the type of words you’d expect to hear from one of the people responsible for coining the term “bling bling” in the urban dictionary. An idea that sprouted at 3 a.m. during a casual conversation between

Cash Money Records CEO

Bryan “Birdman” Williams

, his brother

Ronald “Slim” Williams

and his attorney while in London came to fruition in just a matter of time. Adding to their 100 million dollar net-worth, the Williams Brothers most commonly known for spearheading the careers of multi-platinum recording acts Big Tymers, Mannie Fresh, Lil’ Wayne and most recently, Drake, Nicki Minaj and Jay Sean have launched a joint venture with publishing giant,

Simon & Schuster

.

According to the contract,

Cash Money Content

is looking to publish five to six books a year while exploring new avenues in promotion, including billboards, YouTube videos, and live footage during Cash Money concerts. Vernon Brown states: "Our books will also be sold at our concerts. When you're out in front of 18,000 people, some will buy books, some not. But right now many of those fans aren't being told what books are great. We'll do that."

To help celebrate the success of

Cash Money

’s new publishing company and book deal, a few of Baby’s famous friends came out to congratulate the YMCMB general on his new found success, while enjoying some drinks and apps as Harlem’s own

provided the entertainment for the evening. Also in attendance were industry heavy weights former

President

,

Universal Republic

President and CEO

Monte Lipman

and

, former

Universal Motown Record

Group Chairman, as well as Publisher and Founder of Atria Books,

The

Cash Money Content

imprint has already released four titles this year under Atria Books including the New York Times bestseller list debut of their first fiction title, “Justify My Thug” by Wahida Clark, Raw Law: An Urban Guide To Criminal Justice by Muhammad Ibn Bashir, a re-release of the legendary Iceberg Slim's “Pimp”, and The New York Times bestselling authors of a new series titled “Muderville,” (hitting shelves July 26) by authors Ashley & JaQuavis. Readers can expect CMC to release the entire Iceberg Slim backlist of seven novels, including “Trick Baby” which will be in stores this summer. Legendary west coast radio host Big Boy’s weight-loss manifesto will also be among the first to head up the fall 2011 titles.

Aimed at the urban demographic,

Cash Money Content

will crank out a majority of non-fiction bodies of work or "street fiction" titles according to the hardcore hip-hop heads. Dem Magnolia boys also plan to diversify their catalog by putting out a children's book at the end of the year in addition to Stunna’s life story. I got a chance to talk to Birdman for a brief moment, and told him I was a hungry journalist. He say’s he’ll make sure I get on… so if I’m lucky, I wont end up like BG and the rest of the former cash money members. No shots.
