Chamillionaire Picks up MTV Video Music Award Nomination

NEW YORK, NY --Emerging as the biggest-selling new hip hop artist of the year, Houston-based rapper and entrepreneur Chamillionaire picked up a nomination for "Best Rap Video" for his smash "Ridin" by MTV for the 2006 Video Music Awards, airing August 31st. Chamillionaire's Platinum debut album, The Sound of Revenge, has become a mainstay of the Billboard Top 200 chart since its release in 2005, with the multi-talented artist's ringtone sales breaking the Triple Platinum plateau, outselling a prestigious list of superstar artists including The Black Eyed Peas, T.I., 50 Cent, and Eminem in the newly minted ringtone market.

Chamillionaire also continues his unprecedented success at Rhythm Crossover Radio with his third single "Grown & Sexy," from The Sound of Revenge. "Grown & Sexy" is the follow-up hit to his still sizzling "Ridin" single (featuring Krayzie Bone) which was #1 for six weeks running at Rhythm Crossover, also landing the #1 spot at the end of May on Billboard's Hot 100 chart.

Chamillionaire's popularity has grown not only with consumers, but among his colleagues and music industry insiders, as well. He is featured on the latest "Now That's What I Call Music" album, which includes tracks from Kelly Clarkson, Rihanna, Daniel Powter, Ne-Yo, Nickelback, and the All-American Rejects. The album scored a chart victory selling over 300,000 units to debut at #1 in the first week of release. Chamillionaire is also currently featured on Ciara's hit "Get Up", Fankie J's "That Girl", and made a cameo in the Lil Scrappy featuring Young Buck video, "Money in the Bank".

Calboy Is a Trendsetter

Chicago rapper Calboy fuses a classic style with a fun personality. His story, which he breaks down for Audiomack World, mirrors the PUMA story.

His groundbreaking success story has made Chamillionaire the undisputed champion among debut artists, with his first single "Turn It Up," featuring Lil' Flip, landing in the Top 10 at Crossover Radio. Chamillionaire's second single "Ridin," also became an MTV and BET staple, cementing the Houston rapper's reputation as an all-around force in the world of music. With more than 3.3 million profile views on MySpace, Chamillionaire's unprecedented success in the digital arena has confirmed that his incredible popularity has traveled well beyond the confines of the hip-hop world.

It's been quite a journey for an artist formerly pegged as a 'regional rapper', a self-made entrepreneur who used to sell his mix-tapes out of the trunk of his car in his native Texas. Chamillionaire recently appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He will perform on an upcoming episode of NBC's America's Got Talent from the creators of American Idol.
