EMB consists of four multi-ethnic group members. Other than music, what is the group's common bond?
Aside from the music, we all share the same interest in fashion and film (so cliche). We also attended school with each other. The Jamaican and Panamanian cultures mimic one another in many ways, for example: the foods we eat, the clothing we wear, the types of music we listen to, the style of English we speak and of course the slangs we speak are all very similar.
Atlanta is home for EMB; does the city receive its just due for all the musical-luminaries it has produced in recent years?
There are a few emcees that get recognized, but honestly no. We do not get all of the respect and recognition we deserve, mainly due to the stereotypes [that have been] placed upon the city and the mainstream music that comes out of it.
Last year, DJBooth.net featured "Pose." Which member would be most likely to take up a secondary career in modeling?
All of us- due to the clothing lines we produce!
The word "Embassy" suggests a presence all over the globe. How does the group go about making music that caters to a worldly audience?
We associate different "sites" of the world into our lyrics, for example: we mention different cities of the world, different landmarks, events that may only happen in other countries, different stores, fabrics, resorts, brands, cars or foods. By doing [this], it allows us to gain faithful fans in those areas of the world that we mention, opposed to just speaking on topics that only relate to our city or the states.
Does anyone in the group have a crazy story about their experiences "inside a DJ Booth"?
[laughs] No, we basically use it for what it's for... recording music.
