NEW YORK, NY -- J-LP is a Hip Hop MC/Producer from the outskirts of Chicago. He has an underground yet commercial sound that has given him a strong, growing fan base in northern Illinois. J-LP has his own production company, “Grip Tight Entertainment”, which consists of producing, buying and selling beats and also releasing underground/independent music.

Writing poetry and songs since 3rd grade J-LP has always been extremely creative. He moved to Los Angeles in 2002 to pursue his entertainment dreams. He discovered that he loved producing and put all his energy into learning everything he could about the rap game. He would sit in the studios for hours and talk to any producers that he could find to learn and network with them. His hard work paid off and he soon began creating hit tracks for himself like “My Shine.”

J-LP has released a slew of underground mix CDs, including “Underground Flow” and “Hustler Talk”, which was hosted by Brain “B-Dot” the winner of BET’s “Ultimate Hustler” TV show. J-LP was recently mentioned on MTV.com, "Mixtape Mondays" and nominated for the 3rd Annual Underground Music Awards for Song of the Year, along side other famous, underground hip hop artist as Remy Martin and Papoose.

Currently J-LP is preparing to release his third mix CD entitled, This Is Hip Hop hosted by one of the biggest and best mix tape DJs in the business, DJ Vlad. J-LP is also in the studio working on his debut album, Will Rap 4 Food while in the process of writing a Hip Hop Poetry book that will be aimed at a younger crowd to show kids hip hop is poetry. He is also preparing to go on a national tour designed specifically to entertain and educate young people, focusing on over 20 cities in the Midwest.
