On the very last day of the 2012 Atlantic City DJ Expo, my good friends at Pioneer DJ Division hooked me up with an exclusive rundown video of the newly announced Pioneer XDJ-AERO.

This new Digital DJ controller has the capability to playback audio files from USB drives, it can function as a MIDI controller for all popular DJ software, as well as allowing smartphones and tablets to deliver audio files over a WIFI wireless network via the Rekordbox software. The new XDJ-AERO is a SOLID controller and has an even better build quality than the DDJ lineup. The jog wheels feel solid and they don't have that same push-top style design that the other controllers have. This time they are touch sensitive. The crossfader was really crisp and was a joy to scratch with right out of the box. The XDJ-AERO can also function as a standalone mixer as there are RCA inputs around the back for loads of other possibilities. We'll be sure to get one in the lab for an HD-Video review within the next 30 days or so. Stay Tuned!

[Video] 2012 DJ Expo - Pioneer DJ Booth

Year in and Year out, Pioneer DJ has the biggest and best exhibit in all of the DJ Expo Land. This year, Pioneer has pulled out all the stops and even managed to give us some last-minute announcements that had me scrambling less than a week before the start of the show. Excellent marketing by Pioneer as everyone and their mother was seen at the Pioneer DJ Booth to try out the new DDJ-ERGO-Limited and the new XDJ-AERO which were all on display and ready for all DJ's to give them a try. Check out the entire exhibit video after the jump.

[NAMM 2013] Pioneer XDJ-AERO in Pearl White

I had so much fun reviewing and performing on the Pioneer XDJ-AERO and using it both as a MIDI controller and as a standalone mixing console with the wireless Rekordbox software. The controls just felt right and the build quality of the XDJ-AERO was also better than the norm. Everything also fit in a nice compact and relatively thin package for easy transport. For NAMM 2013 Pioneer DJ has announced that they are producing a Pearl White version of the XDJ-AERO which will be on sale in March for the suggested retail price of $1400. [Video] Pioneer XDJ-AERO's New Firmware 2.0

We recently reviewed the new Pioneer XDJ-AERO all in one wireless digital DJ mixstation and it was really one of the best times I've had on any DJ controller in recent memory. It was very easy to use, had great feel and construction, and lots of different ways that DJ's can mix their music together. The new Pioneer XDJ-AERO now has a 2.0 Firmware update which gives DJ's better control over the sample banks and a few other improvements here and there. Check out the Pioneer DJ Video of the new 2.0 Firmware features and check out my full HD-Video review to see if this is the choice for you.
