2013 Atlantic City DJ Expo Wrap-up

This year’s DJ Expo at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, New Jersey was an excellent event with only a handful of new pieces of DJ gear but with lots of good deals and good fun with good DJ’s scattered throughout. I was able to meet up with all of the DJ companies who were there to bring you great Video coverage from the Expo floor and I even met a few famous DJ’s such as DJ Angelo from the UK, Etronik, and DJ Kool.

The biggest story of the show has to be the Numark NS7 Pro II controller which was available for all to use and fondle right at the Numark booth. The Numark Edge was a nice niche controller and the Pioneer booth was once again the biggest booth of the entire show. Virtual DJ 8 was also available for DJ’s to get familiar with the new “sandbox” feature where users can premix tracks before they actually do it live. The American Audio Booth had DJ Etronik performing and the new ELMC-1 compact $99 controller was also on display and in full working order.

Noticeably absent from the 2013 DJ Expo were DJ Tech and Gemini. I was really hoping to see the new Gemini Controllers at the show to give everyone an update, but I’m sure they’re hard at work getting ready for their release. Overall the show was a bit smaller this year than the previous two years as many companies had smaller booths or were no-shows all together. It seems that most DJ companies have settled into a groove and this year’s DJ Expo just so happens to land at a time when most gear is already here or still in the works…
