GOLD Turntables & Mixer DIY [Video]

The Traktor Kontrol Z2 Mixer and Stanton ST-150 Super-OEM turntables are my battle weapons of choice. I have been using this setup for the last few years now and I always had a vinyl skin on each piece to make it look unique. It's about time to switch up the look, so I decided to contact our friends over at 12inchskinz.com to see what they had to offer. We decided to go with the "All-Gold-Everything" theme to change the Turntables & Mixer to have a loud gold appearance and we were NOT disappointed!

GOLD Turntables & Mixer By 12inchskinz.com DIY Video

For the Traktor Kontrol Z2 mixer, we went with the Mirror Gold vinyl skin. The skin itself is really thick and durable vinyl and I'm sure it will last for years and years. The entire skin will cover all side, rear, front, and top panels of the mixer to give it a gold look all around. Application on the Z2 Mixer is really simple as you can see in the video. Simply clean the surface of any debris and remove the old skin (if you have one on there already) and then apply the 3M adhesive backing to the unit making sure you don't stretch it or bend it... Just take your time to get it right. The Stanton ST-150 turntables have a new Magnetic skin that will automatically grab onto the top metal plate of the turntable for a super-easy application process.

Rane Seventy-Two Mixer & Twelve Turntable Controller

The rumors have now been confirmed! Just in time for the DJ Expo which kicks off tomorrow, Rane has unleashed the Beast! The newly announced Rane Seventy-Two Mixer and Twelve Turntable Controller are a reality. The Rane Seventy-Two mixer is a two channel battle mixer which looks like a Pioneer DJM-S9 with a screen in the middle and three Rane Magnetic faders. The Rane Twelve Turntable Controller is a solid all metal digital turntable that does not use a needle or tonearm for sound, but rather digital USB connections to work with Serato DJ.

[Video] Traktor's Mixer Controller Announced

Ever wonder what would happen if Native Instruments started making true DJ Mixers? Well now you don't have to wonder for long because Native Instruments just posted the new teaser video that all but reveals the World's first Traktor 2+2 Channel Mixer and DJ controller. From the looks of it, the new Traktor Mixer-Controller will be able to accept CD and Vinyl Timecode decks without the need of a DVS soundcard. The mixer also looks to be made with a strong metal chassis and has controls for effects, hot-cues, loops, and everything else in between. Check out the Eric Goldstein performance to see what features you can find.

[Video] DIY: Traktor/Serato DVS Soundcards Installed Inside Your Mixer

In my latest DIY Video, I'm showing the masses how they can install a Traktor/Serato DVS soundcard inside of your favorite mixer for a nicely updated and compact setup. Some new mixers on the market today come with a DVS soundcard already installed (Traktor Z2, Pioneer DJM-T1, Rane Sixty-One) so that the user only has to connect their CD or vinyl timecode decks directly into the RCA inputs for a plug-and-play solution. I installed a Traktor A4 inside of the Korg KM-202 & a Traktor A6 inside of the Vestax PMC-05ProIV. Check out the writeup & video inside to see how it's done.

Reloop RP-8000 Professional MIDI Turntable Unboxing & First Impressions [Video]

The recently released Reloop RP-8000 Professional MIDI DJ turntables sport some of the familiar Super-OEM turntable DNA including the same high-torque motor and tonearm that is found on the Stanton ST-150, Reloop RP-6000, AT-LP1240, etc. The RP-8000 also has an additional digital Pitch LED display, eight rubberized MIDI pads, four MIDI layer buttons, and an over-sized encoder knob which can all be mapped to any MIDI compatible DJ software out on the market today. The main difference with these new Reloop turntables is that they have a familiar "Technics" turntable look and layout with a brushed aluminum top plate, recessed aluminum pitch sliders, and the familiar aluminum start-stop buttons found on the corners. The Pitch range of these turntables can be switched from +/- 8%, +/- 16% and +/- 50% and there are also start and stop adjustment knobs to control the speed that the platter starts and stops the track.

Pioneer DJM-T1 Traktor Mixer Video

While scouring through the internet, I was able to find a cool new video on the new Pioneer DJM-T1 Digital Traktor Mixer. This video is a nice demo showing many of the key functions of the DJM-T1 while DJ Jekey shows you all it can do. This mixer also provides full DVS functionality, meaning that you can plug your analog decks directly into it without the need for an additional soundcard like the Audio 4. I've already seen the price tag of about $1500 floating around the internet so it's anyone's guess how many people think it's worth it. Either way, we will have one very soon for a full Video Review. For now, check the video inside.

The Stanton ST-150 and STR8-150 "Super-OEM" turntables have been on the market for almost ten years now. These turntables have super-strong motors, lots of advanced features, and a solid build quality. The one thing these turntables have been missing is a dust cover! Stanton turntable users FINALLY have a dust-cover solution in the form of Decksaver's newest product release. Mixware.net (The US distributor of Decksaver) has sent us a pair of these new covers to put to good use and I'll show you how they look and fit in the full setup.
