DJ Controllers

Serato has just made a huge announcement. The new Serato DJ 1.5.0 software update is now upon us and with it comes digital Vinyl and CDJ control. Serato DJ 1.5.0 will immediately work perfectly with the newly announced Rane Sixty-Four mixer, Pioneer DJM-900SRT mixer, and the Pioneer DDJ-SP1 sub-controller when they are released in October, with all of the SSL soundcards and Rane/Serato certified mixers following suit in November with the release of the Serato DJ 1.6.0 beta.

Mixers

Today, Serato DJ released the new 1.6 Beta download to the public which brings all of the other Rane DJ mixers and DVS soundcards up-to-date with the newest Serato DJ features and functions. The Rane SL2, SL3, SL4, Sixty-One, Sixty-Two, and Sixty-Eight can all now reap the benefits of using the new Serato DJ platform instead of the "soon-to-be-retired" Serato Scratch Live software. Remember, this is only a Beta release, so Serato users are warned not to use this software in live performances because its not yet fully tested.

Mixers

A few short months ago, we reviewed the Rane Sixty-One Serato Scratch Live Professional DJ mixer which boasts great build quality and an interal SSL soundcard interface so that DJ's can connect vinyl or CD timecode for digital music playback via computer. The new Rane Sixty-Two mixer builds upon the SSL interface and high-quality craftsmanship of the Sixty-One by adding on-board MIDI controls so that DJ's can trigger cue points, samples, Loops, and effects. Rane recently sent us a brand new Sixty-Two Z Limited Edition (with cool Z-trip Artwork & Pro RCA Cables) mixer for a complete video and written review that will be completed shortly, so watch this space. Now that the Serato DJ 1.5.0 cat is out of the bag, the Rane Sixty-Four Serato DJ certified Mixer has also been announced. The new Rane Sixty-Four Mixer will be one of two mixers out on the market in October that will work perfectly with the new Serato DJ 1.5.0 DJ software right out of the box. The Sixty-Four Mixer sports dual USB ports for easy DJ changes, on-board effects, Serato DJ MIDI controls, and can support up to four external Serato NoiseMap Vinyl/CD control decks at once.

NAMM 2012 is shaping up to be one for the ages! There are lots of surprise developments and more new DJ and production gear than we can all keep up with. But when the big dogs start barking we all pay close attention. We are happy to introduce the new Rane Sixty-One and Rane Sixty-Two Turntablist Two-channel Serato Mixers. The Rane Sixty-One looks to be almost like a new version of the TTM-57SL with a few more buttons and functions to control the Serato Software, while the Rane Sixty-Two does all this plus adds dual-USB interfaces and even more Loop/Cue/Sample buttons for control. On-hand were the entire line of the Serato Soundcard Interfaces (SL2, SL3, SL4), the various Serato Software releases, and all of RANE's Current mixers such as the TTM-56S, the TTM-57, the sixty-eight, the Empath, and the Empath Rotary. Mixers

Serato DJ 1.5 has now been released. This means that the era of Serato Scratch Live and Itch is coming to an end. Last month Serato announced that they would combine all of their Serato based DJ software into one software to rule them all which is known as the Serato DJ 1.5 release. The new release will now work with the new Pioneer DJM-900SRT, DDJ-SR, DDJ-SP1, and the Rane Sixty-Four. Of course all of the other Serato DJ controllers are also able to work with the new Serato DJ 1.5 and there's a few bug fixes and housekeeping items addressed in this update as well.
