Last night, in Brooklyn, New York, legendary DJ A-Trak held the the inaugural Goldie Awards, featuring the best and brightest DJs and producers from around the world in live competition. Created to celebrate the ever-expanding popularity of DJs and producers within mainstream culture, the winners will have a song released via Fool’s Gold and perform at Fool’s Gold Day Off. Presented by sponsors like Noisey, Serato, Scratch DJ Academy, Thump, and TMWRK, and hosted by Dave East, the night consisted of beat and DJ battles between contestants from all around the world, that were judged by household names, Mannie Fresh, Craze, Diplo, Mija, The Whooligan, Destructo, and Just Blaze.

The finalists in the beat battle were Brace from Canada, and Holly from Portugal. Each had a different style and melodic vibe that had the judges and crowd on a wave, but in the end the crowned champ was Holly!
