With mobile devices nowadays becoming as powerful as a desktops or laptops, Ni has come out with a new mobile app pushing the limit.

The iMASCHINE2 is all about making music anywhere. You hear sound idea that you quickly want to sketch out a quick beat or melody with? The iMASCHINE2 has your back. You can check out all the new features it comes with down below, but I would like to share an idea that has sprung to mine.

Here is a little demo from NI featuring TK Kayembe:

With a MK2 or Studio costing as much as say an iPad Pro, or an iPhone 6S, it seems a little odd why NI has put out such a powerful app and features. At first it doesn't seem to be, but Ableton has recently announced Link. What it does is basically through a wireless connection, you can connect any application in sync. Although it is only for now an Ableton thing, could it become an open source project, or could NI be working on a similar solution on its platform?

Here's a list of the new features:

The Arranger lets you turn your loops and scenes into full tracks with the swipe of a finger

Create different patterns for each group and arrange your scenes

Step Mode lets you quickly create beats without finger drumming

The Smart Play keyboard lets you play chords, melodies, and basslines that are always in-key

The arpeggiator lets you add dynamic motion to your tracks

Multi-colored pads and groups help you better organize your sounds

Quick Actions with Apple 3D Touch help you optimize your workflow with shortcuts*

3D Touch lets you control the velocity or rate of note repeat depending on how hard you press the screen, bringing you closer to a true hardware experience*

Major library update, now including over 300 MB of content: 19 projects, 38 drum kits, and over 750 samples

Open your existing iMASCHINE projects effortlessly in iMASCHINE 2

Expand your sonic arsenal with ULTIMATE COLLECTION – 36 iMASCHINE Expansion packed into one ultra-affordable bundle

iMASCHINE 2 is available for $4.99 until December 1, 2015 and will cost $9.99 after the offer period. It can be purchased and downloaded exclusively at the Apple App Store.

Ableton Push 2 [Video]

Well, that was unexpected. What I am talking about is the great people at Ableton dropping a Push 2. The upgraded hardware is slimmer, cleaner and just looks real sexy compared to the first. Something worth noting as well is it is no longer being built by Akai but by Ableton. Check out the details, press release, links, and videos inside.

Native Instruments has again provided the producers of the world with a new virtual unique piano: UNA CORDA. It is based on a 64-key upright piano. It mentions that unlike standard pianos, who use more than one string per key, this piano is unusual in that it has just one string per key.

Production Gear: iMaschine (Video)

The Native Instruments iMaschine is now available at the Apple App store for iPod Touch and the iPhone. It's a groovestation application that allows users to create music using four flexible tracks for real-time sampling, loop recording, and sequencing with percussion instruments and sounds that are downloaded into the app. The iMaschine App is like having a pocket version of the popular beat-making unit called the Maschine by Native Instruments right on your iPod or iPhone.
