NAMM 2012: New Traktor Compact Controller

Native Instruments (in my humble opinion) is starting to widen the gap between themselves and the competition with the release of a brand new Traktor compact DJ controller that has a plethora of fully-programmable MIDI faders, drum pads (cues, loops, and samples) and knobs to suite almost every computer DJ's needs whether it be enhancing a current timecode setup or the new controller is used as its own deck and or mixer. Check out the full video demo and press release inside.

NAMM 2012: Akai MPCDJ Controller

Ever wonder what would happen if the Akai MPC production unit were to be merged with a Digital DJ Controller? Well, wonder no more, as Akai and Numark has teamed up to bring you the all new MPCDJ which basically combines the 16 Famous MPC production pads with a mixing console and two Numark V7's attached to each side for an all-in-one DJ control solution. This type of product is very innovative and makes a lot of sense since DJ's often use programmable buttons for cue points, juggling, looping, sampling, drumming, and just about everything else under the sun. The new Traktor Kontrol X1 MK2 has now shipped from Native Instruments to a local DJ gear store near you. The new Traktor X1 has most of the same functions as the original X1 including cue points, browse/load controls, effects, and loops, but adds a new touch-strip section in the middle of the unit that can control effects parameters, nudging for beatmatching, and for jumping to a particular section in a song. Our full review is on the way, but check out Felix Da Housecat using the X1 in this new NI demo.
