Pioneer has just released the third iteration in their entry-level DJ controller called the Pioneer DDJ-WeGO3. Long ago, we reviewed the original DDJ-WeGO and it was a great controller for any new DJ and it had versatility to work with many different software. The DDJ-WeGO3 continues where the original left off with a new sleeker design, stronger construction, and an included iOS lightning cable that also charges the iOS device while in use. Just because someone is using the lite version of a DJ software doesn't mean the DJ can't pull off some great mixing and show some serious skills on these new entry-level DJ controllers that are out there on the market. We reviewed the Pioneer DDJ-SB controller about a year ago and Sam from the Serato team performs a quick routine using only Serato DJ Intro and some of the entry-level controllers that all cost under $300 and are bundled with the software. If you need more horsepower, then the user can upgrade to the full Serato DJ software which has more features.

The Pioneer DDJ-S1 was released back in 2011 and was designed to work with perfectly Serato Itch. We reviewed the controller and found it to be a great DJ control surface for Serato software DJ's. Now that Serato Itch software has been replaced by Serato DJ with a better layout and new features, the DDJ-S1 owners can now reap the benefits by downloading the new firmware and Free Serato DJ upgrade to get the full use out of their controller. The new Serato DJ software (which is basically the new replacement software for Serato Itch) now provides a true upgrade path for people who are using the low-level Serato DJ Intro software with their Digital DJ Controllers. Serato DJ Intro software has a limited number of DJ functions, but DJ that own the Numark Mixtrack, Denon MC2000, or the Pioneer DDJ-ERGO now have the option to upgrade to the full Serato DJ version with much more control over the playback options and lots more features at your fingertips.

The Pioneer DDJ-SR is essentially a trimmed down two-deck version of the DDJ-SX which controls four decks of Serato DJ. The new DDJ-SR has a smaller footprint than the DDJ-SX and adds a new PAD PLUS button that gives the 16-performance pads even more functions than before. Even though only two channels are present, the controller is layered so four decks of software control is still possible. The Serato team has just announced a new update to their free software that will allow owners of the newly released Korg Kaoss DJ Controller to use Serato DJ Intro with this new device. This means users can now download Serato DJ Intro 1.2.4 which will give users access to Serato features like sync, cue points, loops, library navigation, and more.

Pioneer DJ has recently released a brand new beginner-level Digital DJ controller for their Serato lineup called the DDJ-SB. This new compact and USB-Powered controller has the familiar 16 Performance Pads layout, Slip-Mode, built-in Low Pass/High Pass filter knobs, and comes bundled with Serato DJ Intro for the excellent street price of only $300. We're currently working on the DDJ-SR review, so the DDJ-SB review will just have to wait in line. In the meantime, Pioneer has just released a slew of new tutorial videos to get owners started off on the right path.

Just a few short weeks ago, the folks at Serato released the new Serato DJ Software upgrade packages for the Numark Mixtrack, the Denon MC2000, and the Pioneer DDJ-Ergo. Users of these controllers can now upgrade from the bare-bones Serato DJ Intro to the full-featured Serato DJ for the cool price of $199. Serato has now released three new videos that shows each of these controllers in action with the Serato DJ software to show potential users some of the new features that come with the upgrade.
