Pioneer has just announced a brand new set of on-ear headphones for professional DJ's who like a more minimalist look and ultra-clear sound. The new Pioneer HDJ-C70 headphones have a compact and lightweight design with 40mm on ear drivers with comfortable memory foam in the earcups that can rotate 90-degrees in either direction. The Pioneer HDJ-C70 also has removable and replaceable headband, earpads, housing, cushion and cables.
In my opinion, the HDJ-C70 takes straight aim at one of my personal favorite DJ and monitoring headphones; the Sennheiser HD-25's. There are lots of similarities between the two such as the similar plastic but durable construction and even the earcups rotate 90-degrees in a similar fashion. Both have earcups that attach to the headband in the same fashion and they are both on-ear 40mm driver headphones as well. We'll be sure to put them through the unboxing and review video treatments as soon as they are available next month (October 2014). The street price will be around $239.
