Pioneer DJ has just announced that they are releasing a new lineup of “CD-less” CDJ’s called the XDJ Line. The new XDJ series will feature USB ports to connect to computers for digital software playback like Traktor/Serato or to connect USB drives to DJ straight from the user library using Rekordbox. The first release of the new line is called the
and it features a familiar CDJ layout, an intuitive touch-screen, and more.
This has been a long time in the making. The CD format is pretty much on its last legs and there is very little reason for Pioneer DJ to continue to manufacture CD drives for a dying format. The USB connectivity options and new Touch Screen functions on the Pioneer XDJ-1000 bring it into the new digital DJ age. The XDJ-1000 still has many of the same features and functions found on the current CDJ line andt he same familiar layout that DJ’s all over the World perform with. The XDJ-1000 will be available later this month for $999 and we’ll be sure to get one in the lab for the full out review treatment in due course.
