Production Gear: Reason 6 & Reason Essentials
Anyone who is in the beat-making business knows all about the Reason production suite brought to us by Propellerhead. Well now they've seriously upgraded the software setup to Reason 6.0 with some nice improvements to the features and the track-creating process. At the same time, Propellerhead also announced a new production software called Reason Essentials that allows users the ability to record, edit, add effects, and master all in an affordable package. The new Reason 6 setup will run you around $450, while the Reason Essentials package retails at $300. The Reason Essentials package has lots of functionality, but Reason 6 has even more. To upgrade from any version of Reason to the new 6.0 version, it will run about $170.
Also on the horizon is Propellerhead's new interface that is designed to be used with Reason 6.0 and Reason Essentials. This unique controller called the Balance Audio Interface, plugs directly into the computer to give the users full control over mixing tools needed to create the next hot track. Also on the interface has a total of 8 inputs so users can plug in all sorts of instruments and sound machines. Reason Essentials will come bundled with the new Balance Audio Interface and an upgrade to Reason 6.0 will be available when they arrive on the scene.
Reason 6, Essentials, and the Balance Audio Interface won't be available until late September 2011, so for now, check out pricing, details, and links below in the full press release.
