Introducing the new replacement software for Serato Itch enabled DJ Controllers which will now be called Serato DJ. This new software is a huge breakthrough for the Serato team as this new Serato DJ software will allow DJ’s who use Serato DJ Intro an upgrade path to a real full-featured software (finally!). Serato DJ will be fully MIDI mappable allowing DJ’s to use a combination of different controllers to achieve the ultimate control. Serato has not yet shown any screenshots of the new layout, but they assure us that its been greatly improved over the original Serato Itch. Also added to Serato DJ is the inclusion of four-decks of control, up to 8 cue points, 8 loops, or a combination of both. There is a totally re-worked effects module powered by iZotope that include Delay, Echo, Ping-Pong Delay, Reverb, Phaser, Flanger, Distortion, HPF, LPF, and a combo filter. Users can also now easily record their entire mix with the touch of a button. There is auto-loop and manual looping available within Serato DJ.

For a limited time, users will be able to get a free Serato Video plug-in that will work nicely with Serato DJ. Be on the lookout for this deal when Serato DJ is released on November 1st. All Serato Itch and Serato DJ Intro controllers will be fully compatible with the Serato DJ Software sometime in 2013. There is a list of DJ Controllers and when they will be available on the Serato DJ website which can be found

here

. If you are a current Serato DJ Intro user, then this upgrade will cost you the one-time fee of $199 and it will be completely free to current Serato Itch DJ controller users.

This new Development is great for the Serato Brand. They now have a clear and concise plan to consolidate and streamline their DJ packages that makes more sense for the end user. For example, DJ’s who are using the Reloop Terminal Mix 4 with only two Serato DJ Intro decks available can now upgrade their software to Serato DJ to unlock the full four-deck potential of the controller. There are plenty more examples of this across the DJ controller market and those Serato DJ Intro users will no longer be left out in the cold with a beginner software when its time to upgrade. We’ll be sure to bring you more information as the picture becomes clearer but check out the press release and the official Serato website for more information.
